WRITEUP
CAPESIZE
The Capesize market softened at the start of the week, with limited activity reported. Singapore's National Day holiday reduced market participation, while the major miners remained absent from the spot market, resulting in no fresh fixture activity. Panellists generally described conditions as quiet, with sentiment trending softer as chartering requirements remained scarce and owners competed for a limited number of opportunities. The Atlantic remained subdued, with little fresh enquiry from Brazil or West Africa, while Pacific activity was similarly restrained by the lack of miner demand. Against this backdrop, most timecharter routes moved lower on the day, with the Capesize Timecharter Average declining by $212 to $46,300 per day. Overall, market sentiment remained cautious, with participants awaiting a return of miner activity and improved cargo visibility before adopting a firmer outlook.

PANAMAX
The week has begun on a relatively subdued note, with the long weekend in Singapore prompting many market participants to pause and reassess their positions. Despite the quieter trading environment, the P5TC increased by $71 to $20,755. In the Atlantic a clear market direction has yet to emerge, with brokers reporting little change in Owners' offer levels, suggesting there has been no meaningful softening in sentiment from the supply side. At the same time, Charterers are understood to be taking a more cautious approach, stepping back from active enquiry while they evaluate their requirements. As a result, activity remains limited and market participants are closely monitoring developments for clearer indicators of direction. The Pacific market is exhibiting a similar trend, with limited fixture activity reported today. However, following the stronger momentum seen last week, market participants have noted that the list of available prompt tonnage has thinned somewhat, providing some underlying support to rate levels and reinforcing the generally positive sentiment. While fresh demand appears subdued, the tighter vessel supply is helping to maintain market stability.

Atlantic
The Ever Sovereign (82,076 2017) in ballast towards EC South America arriving around 18/20 August was said to have fixed for a fronthaul at $21,500 + $1,175,000 ballast bonus, although there was some discussion as to who the charterer is.
Jaldhi was reported to have fixed the Pacific Star (74,138 2013) open Haldia 10/15 August for a coastal run at $23,000.

SUPRAMAX
A slow start after the weekend and with a holiday in Singapore today, most of the talk was centred on trades concluded last week. The 11TC average reflected this up $9 to open the week at $20,267. In Asia the market had showed signs of levelling at the end of last week, so hopefully the market can continue tomorrow, although there will be another holiday in Japan.

Atlantic
The Amis Justice (63,531 2017) was said to have fixed delivery Klaipeda for a trip to the Mediterranean intention scrap at $23,750 with Weco, although a source suggested this had been fixed early last week, and the Ocean Future (55,771 2010) prompt in Constantza fixed a trip ARAG intention grains with Cargill, some said at $19,000 whilst others said $18,000

HANDYSIZE
The market started the week on a flat note, with sentiment largely steady across most loading regions as participants adopted a cautious, wait-and-see approach. The BHSI edged down by 2 points to 872, while the 7TC average fall by $25 to $15,704. The Continent and Mediterranean remained active, with a few fixtures reported and Charterers beginning to bid above previously agreed levels. However, the South Atlantic and US Gulf continued to follow a sluggish trend, with tonnage levels remaining stable and limited fresh demand emerging. In Asia the market began the week quietly but on a positive note, supported by steady demand despite regional holidays, helping maintain a constructive tone across the region.
